Vincenzo Della Mea will give a lecture on “Representation, use and reuse of health data and knowledge: the case of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health” at the Dept. of Health Sciences and Health Policy, University of Luzern, on 17 March 2011, at 17:15.

The meeting “Ontological Developments of the International Classification of Functioning, Disabilities and Health (ICF)” , organized thanks to the MURINET project, is aimed at preparing future enhancements of the well-known ICF classification, developed and maintained by WHO, towards a more formal ontological entity. The meeting includes a first day, more general and centered around the relationship between biomedical classifications and ontologies, and a second day specifically devoted to discussion on ICF.
The first day is opened by acknowledged researchers in the biomedical ontology field (Stefan Schulz, Freiburg University; Samson Tu, Stanford University) and involves other researchers from the WHO Network for the Family of International Classifications and from the MURINET project.
The meeting willl be held in Venice, Italy (Centro Culturale Don Orione – Artigianelli) on 28-29 May, 2010.
Participation of researchers and PhD students whose interests cross biomedical knowledge representation is welcome, in particular to the first day. Participation is free but registration (online at www.reteclassificazioni.it , or contact Vincenzo Della Mea)  is required in order to provide for logistics.
